<eventinfo>The 6K and 10K routes provide the walker with a glimpse of the history in Salida. Shortly after leaving Centennial Park, the trail follows an old rail bed and then begins to explore the older parts of town. The town has many beautiful brick buildings, parks, and interesting shops and restaurants. Look for some of the old advertisements painted on the sides of the brick buildings, the Salida Steam Plant, the shops and galleries. The 11K walk begins at Riverside Park and is for the folks that want the view and are willing to climb to see it. The trail goes through a short section of town, around a small lake, along a short section of county roads, and heads up to Spiral Mountain. The trail follows a dirt road that winds around the hill several times before reaching the top. The view is spectacular – you can see mountains, the valley, Salida, and the tall smokestack that was once part of a meat packing plant.</eventinfo>
