DISTANCE: 5 Kilometers (3.1 miles) and 10 Kilometers (6.2 miles) REGISTRATION FEES: Preregistration fee is $6.00 for the award and IVV credit, and must be received by March 3, 2012. Day of the event and late registration is $7.00. IVV credit only is $3.00. Registration is free if no award or credit is desired. Make check or money order payable to "Falcon Wanderers". Mail the completed registration form and check or money order to: Falcon Wanderers, P.O. Box 17162, Colorado Springs, CO 80935. The first 50 participants to register for the award will receive an event patch. There will be no reorder of the event patch. The walk will include part of the Rock Island railroad pathway, greenway paths, trails, and historic streets. The trail is rated a 1B. Strollers can complete the course, unless there is snow accumulation. Wheelchairs are not advised. Bring your favorite walking companion, whether 4 legged or 2 legged. Please, No Pets Inside The Start/Finish Building. Restrooms are available at the start/finish and at the Safeway Store. AWARD: The fifteenth annual St. Patrick’s Day award is a colorful patch (2¾ x 3½ inches) picturing a Snoopy in a Lucky Horseshoe. IVV ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS: This event counts towards the acquisition of IVV achievement awards. Bring your books. Books will be available for purchase at the start/finish. WATER: Available at the start/finish and manned checkpoints. Carrying additional water is highly recommended. |
FOOD: Bring your favorite "green goodies" to share with your fellow walkers. DIRECTIONS: From I-25, take Exit 145 (Fillmore Street), and turn east onto Fillmore. Proceed to Beacon Street (approximately ½ mile) and turn right (south). The Modern Woodmen Building is the start point. It is the building next to the car wash. Parking is limited to 18 vehicles behind the building. Additional parking will be available in the lot south of the Modern Woodmen building and along the street. The start/finish will be in the lower level of the building. Walk down the driveway to the rear of the Modern Woodmen Building. NEW WALKER PACKETS: As an added incentive to participate in the volkssporting achievement awards program, new walker packets will be available. These packets allow the walkers new to the sport a "running" start at a reduced rate. DISCLAIMER: The sponsors are not liable for accidents, theft and/or material damage. Every effort will be made by sponsors to make this a safe, enjoyable, and memorable event. This event will take place regardless of weather conditions. No refunds will be given. All children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult. All participants will be required to sign liability disclaimers. MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION: First year membership dues are $10/person, $16/couple, and $20/family.
